Revenue Stream In Business Model Canvas

A revenue stream is a source of income for a business. Businesses can have multiple revenue streams. These may include: 

  • Sales of products or services

  • Interest on investments

  • Commissions from agents or brokers

  • Fees charged for use of the company's facilities. 

The business model canvas is a tool used by entrepreneurs to plan and organize their businesses. The canvas has nine sections: customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, resources, activities, partners and cost structure. 

The revenue stream section of the canvas helps entrepreneurs identify how they will generate income from their customers. 

This includes identifying what product or service will be sold (or provided), how it will be priced and what payment terms will be offered (e.g., upfront payment in full vs. installment payments). 

Additional considerations about the revenue stream in your business model canvas

Other considerations include whether there are any subscription fees associated with the product or service. As well, are any other ancillary products or services that could be bundled with the main offering to increase revenues? These are all important factors in your revenue stream.
