Waterbearcloud. Unlocking the potential of cloud technology to accelerate business

Cloud technology has made it possible for virtual and fractional CTOs like myself to conduct our business remotely. For countless companies, cloud computing is revolutionizing the way businesses operate, offering them the agility to emulate startups and accelerate their growth.

I wrote a blog for Waterbearcloud a while back about how cloud technology can move businesses forward faster than they ever thought possible. The topic holds a special place in my technological heart, so I decided to revisit it.

How can cloud-based development accelerate growth?

Cloud technology facilitates the rapid testing of new products and services, efficient data management, seamless team collaboration, and innovative customer outreach strategies.

And it’s not just reserved for large corporations that have seized upon this transformative opportunity. In a recent survey conducted by the SBE Council, a staggering 76% of small businesses acknowledged that "cloud services were critical to the survival and operation of their business" during the pandemic.

Nevertheless, as any business will attest, integrating new software into operations takes a bit of trial and error to unleash its full potential. However, the year 2021 has witnessed a game-changing shift in the ability to swiftly develop and assess products within the cloud environment.

The evolution of cloud-based product development

Reflecting back on my past role, spearheading the IT department for a new venture required us to obtain a server to run our systems and manage data. This entailed specifying server requirements, selecting a vendor, placing an order, and allocating a significant sum of $10,000. Moreover, this investment did not yield immediate results as we had to patiently await delivery for several weeks.

Fast forward to the present day, and the landscape has transformed significantly. You can now acquire a server and storage with just an email address and no upfront costs, all at the click of a button. As a prime example, a healthcare company recently leveraged this technology to swiftly develop a new Covid-19 test site locator while seamlessly integrating it with their existing search products. While they already had mechanisms for customers to locate healthcare providers, these channels remained disjointed until they incorporated a new, cloud-based solution.

A decade ago, achieving a solution to these challenges at such a rapid pace seemed inconceivable. Today, businesses can build, evaluate, and consolidate new products within the cloud in a matter of days.

Harnessing the cloud for digital transformation and overcoming obstacles

Let's move from theory to practical applications. Are you faced with the need to rapidly scale for anticipated data surges or increased processing demands during pivotal events? If so, cloud-based services with plug-and-play capabilities could be your saving grace.

For those concerned about the conversion rates of their landing pages, machine learning platforms can help conduct comprehensive testing. It is essential to establish clear metrics to measure progress. Once you are prepared to scale up, the cloud offers an array of tools to facilitate a swift and efficient transformation of your business.

Cloud technology is a potent enabler for businesses of all sizes, allowing them to emulate the nimbleness of startups and drive their growth. The era of procuring cumbersome and costly servers is history, as today's cloud infrastructure empowers businesses to innovate and adapt at  speeds never imagined.
